Some weeks ago, I discovered an incredible piece of software that appear to be created for musicians in Covid period allowing them to work remotely as if they are in the same recording studio.
“Satellite Plugin” is the name of this masterpiece. In short, this tool allows musicians that are using Digital Audio Workstation’s (e.g., Pro Tools, Logic) to collaborate on audio projects within their own DAW and without having to export, bounce or send any files.
Available to both MacOS and Windows operating systems, the tool support today the following DAW on both platform:
WINDOWS (8, 10, 11)
Ableton Live 10/11, Fl Studio, Cubase, Studio One, Reason, Reaper, Bitwig
MacOS (10.13 and newer)
Ableton Live 10/11, Logic Pro, Pro Tools, Cubase, FL Studio, Studio One, Reason, Reaper, GarageBand, Bitwig, Digital Performer
Looking at the video, here you will learn how the tool is running. It is surprisingly simple and efficient. You will have to open “Satellite Sessions” as a MIDI Instrument on a new channel in your DAW and add a “Satellite Audio” plugin as audio effect on each track you want to share. On the other side, your friend, who also have Satellite Session installed, will just have to accept your invitation to collaborate and, boom! That’s it. He adds a new track with a stunning bass line or a wonderful backing vocal, as soon as shared from his side you will see it on your side. Magical!!
And the strongest in all this, you know what it is?
This tool is 100% free of charge! Enjoy it !
