With the arrival of the new year (2023) for which I wish you full of health and musical pleasure, it is also time to complete one of my first posted article about DAW’s choice for you.
For people that don’t know what a digital workstation is. this is a piece of software running on a computer (PC &/or Mac) that allow you to record, mix, masterize, your musical creations.
AVID PRO TOOLS
Pro Tools is probably one of the most used DAW in the world.
Pros: Large user community. Available on Windows and MacOS
Cons: Pricing (from $29.99 to $79.99 per month respectively for the base and ultimate version)

LOGIC PRO
Made by Apple for Apple computer only. The professional version of the well known GarageBand software.
Pros: Large user community. Intuitive to use. Unique price $199.99. Lifetime licence. Big brother of the free application GarageBand
Cons: Only available on MacOS platform.

PRESONUS STUDIO ONE
Well known as musical hardware manufacturer, since 2009, they also integrated a DAW in their catalog. Studio One was born.
Pros: Extremely intuitive user interface. Demo/free version available. Powerful features. Affordable pricing (even for the called full “Sphere” version)

Affordable DAW with a deep feature set.
Pros: Extremely powerful and affordable piece of software. Available on Windows and MacOS platform.

ABLETON LIVE
Affordable and easy to use
Pros: Easy to use for beginners, proposed in three different version Intro, Standard and Suite as well as a free version. Affordable price from 71 for the Intro to 505 the Suite with 303 in the middle for the Standard version.
Cons: A bit ahead of the market leaders (e.g., Pro Tools)

Pros: Probably the DAW that exist since long time on the market and the SW that mostly influenced the market. A demo version available and three paid versions from 99 to 309 and 579 (Element, Artist and Pro). Available on both PC & MAC
